A Quick Overview for Newcomers
We’ve been gathering in Kanab, Utah (KKNB) over Labor Day weekend for nearly 30 years, celebrating Rutan designs and the community that surrounds them. This year’s dates are September 4–6.
What makes this fly‑in special is how relaxed and flexible it is. There’s no packed schedule or pressure to “do it all.” For many of us, the scenery around Kanab and the chance to fly and explore the area are a big part of what makes the trip worthwhile. People arrive Friday and Saturday, spend time chatting on the ramp, flying the incredible local scenery, hiking, or simply relaxing by the pool. Families and “groupies” are always welcome.
The City of Kanab typically hosts a burger burn at the airport, inviting the community out to see our famously “backwards” airplanes—always a highlight.
Why Kanab?
Kanab offers some of the most beautiful flying and hiking scenery in the region, paired with a small‑town community that genuinely looks forward to our visit each year. For many of us, the destination is as much a part of the experience as the airplanes and the people.
